Eric Polerecky
Hello — Independent consultant, est. 1999

I help you take the hard problem
and turn it into shipped software.

I'm Eric Polerecky — a working software consultant, not an agency. I've been building platforms since before Y2K. Founders, enterprises, and government teams hire me when they need someone who can actually do the work, make the call, and stay until it's done.

01 — How I work

Four ways to hire me.

I'm one person. I take on a small number of engagements at a time so the ones I do take get my full attention. Pick the shape that fits, or we'll figure out the right one on a call.

01 Founders, indie operators, individual engineering leaders

Advisory & 1:1 work

By the hour or by the week. Architecture reviews, tough technical decisions, hiring help, AI strategy that isn't hype. I work directly with founders and individual leaders who want a sharp second opinion.

02 Startups Seed–Series B, scale-ups, established companies adding muscle

Fractional / embedded

I slot into your team as a senior technologist — fractional CTO, principal engineer, or a hands-on lead. Sprint planning, code review, hard architecture calls, mentoring your team. I leave you stronger than I found you.

03 Teams with a deadline and not enough senior firepower

Hands-on building

When you need someone to actually ship it. Greenfield products, integrations, AI features, migrations from legacy systems. I write code, ship features, and stand up the infrastructure to run them.

04 Investors, acquirers, boards

Technical due diligence

Looking at an acquisition, an investment, or a partnership? I'll read the code, talk to the team, and tell you what's really there — risk, debt, fitness for purpose. No corporate hedging.

Not sure which one? Email me anyway.

02 — Range

Monoliths to microservices.
Startups to government.

The depth comes from years. The breadth comes from doing this in a lot of rooms — and being willing to use whatever tool actually fits the problem.

Tools I reach for

Azure · AWS · Terraform · Docker · Kubernetes · Azure DevOps · GitHub Actions

Backend

.NET / C# · Node · Python · SQL Server · MySQL · MongoDB · Redis

Web

Angular · React · Vue · Blazor · TypeScript

Mobile

React Native · Expo · Xamarin

Architecture

Microservices · Event-driven · Service Bus · REST APIs · DDD

Where I've done the work

  • Startups

Wantify's multi-sided marketplace, TeamVirtuoso fintech work, and CODE Éxitos clients across Latin America. I've co-founded, architected venture-backed products, and consulted to founders who need senior firepower without burning the runway.

  • Enterprise

AHEAD cloud consulting platforms, Pillar Technology (acquired by Accenture), and Grasshopper/Citrix SaaS telephony. Large-scale .NET and cloud-native systems where one architecture decision affects thousands of people.

  • Government

Oakland County document management and GIS systems, and Federal Home Loan Bank — a rates platform for government-sponsored banks that handles trillions in daily liquidity with compliance, audit, and security baked in.

  • Financial services

TeamVirtuoso mobile banking backends, Pillar enterprise service bus for a financial institution, and FHLB rate ingestion workflows. Fintech and regulated environments where the software has to work and be provable.

03 — About

25+ years.
Still building.

I started in network engineering and database administration in the late '90s. I shipped my first production applications before broadband was common. Since then I've worked as a senior engineer, lead, fractional CTO, and consultant — building products for governments, Fortune 500 companies, and startups.

Every wave — web 2.0, mobile, cloud, blockchain, AI — I've shipped real software through. I've led teams of 50+, built compliant financial platforms, and adopted agentic delivery where it actually helps. I'm not selling certainty. I'm offering the judgment you get from watching what works, what doesn't, and what almost worked but for one bad decision.

I work best with people who want a peer in the room — not a vendor, not a deck. Direct, opinionated, and useful from the first call.

04 — Contact

Tell me what
you're working on.

The best engagements start with a real conversation. Send me a few sentences about what you're trying to build, where you're stuck, or what decision you're trying to make. I read everything personally.
